105.003 Serial Range

Hi all,

I have seen a variety of serial ranges quoted as normal for a 105.003. The below is supposedly from Moonwatch Only (I don’t have the book yet to confirm).

  • 105.003-63: ~20,521,xxx - 20,526,xxx
  • 105.003-64: ~20,527,xxx - 22,825,xxx
  • 105.003-65: ~22,825,xxx - 26,554,xxx

But on Speedmaster 101 the range is reported as smaller:

  • -63 2052 1xxx - 2052 6xxx
  • -64 2052 7xxx - 2282 7xxx and 2208 9xxx
  • -65 2282 7xxx - 2544 6xxx

I understand that a large jump in serial number doesn’t always equal a large jump in date, but there is still quite a discrepancy.

Would this put watches between 2544 6xxx and 2655 4xxx in a bit of a questionable area? Or can it safely be assumed that watches in the 26 range are still likely to be correct?

Thanks in advance!

They were selling the 105.003-65 up until 1969. It is plausible there are legit 26m examples.

Thank you. So Omega had a stockpile of 105.003-65 cases and dials to use up and then married it with a movement with a later than typical serial number? Or where they still actively making both case styles simultaneously?

As another question. I don’t suppose anyone has a photo that they could share of the correct close T Swiss Made T vs a Tritium service dial equivalent. I am really struggling to find a photo that clearly shows the difference.

A short introduction and some context to your questions would probably help with engagement to your thread, especially since you are asking experts to do you a favor. This is a community of enthusiasts, not an online reference source.

Investing in a copy of Moonwatch only will answer many of your questions. Plenty of excellent photos to help you.
