·This 105 003-65 is one from the wild. Bought by its original owner in 1966 it was worn daily and well used. It came to me for a full service and restoration from that gentleman's son and is now offered for sale.
Case - A1 symmetrical case, or "straight lug", in unpolished condition. Measuring 38.2mm without the crown, 42.2mm with. 48mm lug to lug. There are nicks and scratches but we have chosen not to polish and leave in its original state. Its a good case.
Caseback - A3 double bevelled caseback featuring the word "SPEEDMASTER", hippocampus and Omega logo. Correctly stamped internally with the FJ makers logo. Correct and original to the watch.
Dial - this has been restored.
A7 dial with round O and close Ts. The print in the dial is all original.
Anyone following my IG feed will see how we received this watch. The lume had been scraped away and the dial scratched. It has been (I hope you agree) very well restored with aged lume, repaint to the major scratches and lacquered. It looks just as it should and we used speedmasters from my collection for the colour. We did not fill in the few damaged markers on the minute track as we were not sure that the result would improve the look of the dial. The result is something I am particularly proud of.
Bezel - DON bezel and original to the watch. There are numerous chips and scratches which appear worse in the photographs than on the wrist. There are also two small dents to the outer ring. It would be easy to replace but the fact is that this is a pretty good bezel, showing its story and we chose to keep it.
Movement - second generation 321, absolutely correct for the reference and original to the watch. There was wear to the reset lever when we examined the movement. As you will know, parts for 321s are harder to get by the day but this lever can be adjusted and so that is what we did. The watch operates perfectly and the reset is dead on but the reset pusher is a little stiffer as a result. That is why I have given such a full explanation. You will notice it when operating the chronograph and that's the reason why. Everything else is damn near perfect.
Handset - original to the watch, these have also been repainted to match the dial. They were damaged but, again, I defy you to spot the difference.
Crown - A3 crown which would be a service replacement. The original owner's son seems to remember it was sent to Omega for its first service. Fortunately, this appears to be the only part replaced.
Pushers - original "medium" pushers, correct to the reference.
Glass - OK, don't laugh! The hesalite is the correct shape and I am pretty sure it is correct. In some lights, I swear I can see the curve of the omega logo on the inside and then I can't. The glass is in good condition so the few scratches were polished out and the glass retained.
Strap - the watch is presented on a tan suede single stitch strap which will easily fit up to an 8 inch wrist (probably 8 1/2). Those of you who know Steveo will recognise his work. These are very good, handmade, straps.
Internal dust cover/movement holder- almost forgot this one. This was missing when the watch came to us and a new replacement was fitted.
And thats the description. Fresh to the market, single owner, 105 003-65 in good original condition with some gentle restoration.
This is offered for sale on my site but the reduced price here is £12,995. Delivery is included unless you are based somewhere that will be problematic in which case we can talk about that. I know I don't post here with anything like the frequency I used to but those who remember me, I hope, will remember me as being very straightforward. Those who don't remember or know me, I can direct to my site for references.
Thanks for looking.
