Apparently the case back says 105.002-62. The dial without "T" in Swiss Made, Alpha Hands and everything else seems to fit. Except the fact that it has a base 1000 bezel It should be a base 500 or???
Isn't the base 1000 bezel from an 2998 or at least earlier than '62?

Correct bezel is a DON (tachy base 500).
I can give you a DON for this base 1000 😁
Or the caseback may have been swapped in the past. The serial number of the movement will tell.

Cheers

Lovely

When a rare watch is wrong because it has a rarer part, I am inclined to leave it until I have a very good reason to change it.

The BASE1000 bezel is from an earlier model, and while I am sure some will propose it could have been put there by omega, I would say it’s very unlikely, especially as someone change the hand suggesting it is not an untouched watch.

While opening it up is of course required, it is unlikely to be the earlier 2998-1 or 2 as the dial doesn’t match those references.

If it were my bezel, this would be a very, very good reason for me to change it. I would take two perfect DO90’s any day of the week for this one bezel. (No disrespect to Achim!). We are all different.

I know. Was just a teaser.... And I'd need very, very good pictures from that bezel. There are some scary reproductions out there......Stay safe. Achim

IT is the real deal though. I kept it safe when the watch had a replacement bezel 30 years ago. That replacement bezel fell of but fortunately I had the original.

My dad got it from a friend in the late 60's. He used it for 10-15 years and since then it has been sleeping in a drawer for 30 years. In 2010 my brother and I found it. A watchmaker friend cleaned it and now it is back on the wrist.
