Hey everyone, decided to source pieces for a Seamaster TV 166.0213 / 366.0845 as a serviced, good condition one has been very difficult to come by for a good price.

I've found a case, case back, movement ring, gorgeous original dial, crystal, watch band, and am missing a movement and crown as well as the hands (part no. 065PZ2445 and 066TZ1582, thanks to Archer!)

Know I'll need some things like a dial support ring, a crown (069ST42524) if it doesn't come with the movement, a back gasket, and a case tube (090ST4068). If I'm missing anything and anyone knows, I'm all ears.

Now, for the movement: for this particular model, is there a difference between the 1020 and 1022 in terms of fitting in the case and functioning, or are they interchangeable? Does it really matter which one I get, or is it more important to find a well serviced one, regardless of the number?

Thanks so much for your help, excited to get this figured out!

Hi, so the 1020 and 1022 are effectively the same, the only difference between them is the 1020 is the 17 jewel export variant for markets where more than 17 jewels incurred a higher tax rate, while the 1022 is a 23 jewel version of the same movement. That’s the only difference.

Thanks so much! So no difference in reliability, servicing or longevity?

A 17 jewel watch is typically called a “fully jeweled” movement, the additional jewels are in significantly less critical areas by my understanding so the difference should be minimal. I’ve got a heap of both and I honestly can’t say I’ve ever noticed the slightest difference.

@Archer would be better able to cover this though and I might move it to the watchmaking topic since its more in that area.
