1-11 Bezel Conversion on a Seamaster 300.

Hi all,

I’m close to pulling the trigger on an SM 300. However, I need the dual time function (which I use daily). I’ve recently posted about an SMP300GMT re-release, but it looks unlikely that such a move will ever happen - and so I find myself looking at other options.

I’ve no desire to blow $6k for a bezel, lollipop seconds hand, and a different click spring, so I wondered what the chances were of getting the requisite bezel parts off Omega to convert the SM 300 to dual time? I don’t care about the seconds hand - only the functionality.

Can anyone tell me if Omega are as difficult to source parts from as Rolex? And if the bi-directional bezel of the dual time is a function of the click spring arrangement or something more involved? I don’t know anyone with a Spectre to lend me their serial number, so it’d be an open ask to Omega.

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK the bezel for the Spectre is replacement only. But I’m sure @Archer can check for you.

That is a bad day. So no way of picking one up, then?

Bad day? With everything going on in the world I'm not sure this registers at all...

You could try to convince someone to rip it off their watch and sell it to you? Not likely, but hey who knows...

I know it is the bezel you are after (which will be very hard to source, if not impossible) but the lolipop second hands are readily available.

Haha! First world problems, I’m sure. And you’re probably right.

oh!? From Omega? How do you know this? Oddly enough, I’m not a fan of the lollipop hand - typical to my luck that that particular part is available!

Yes, Omega sells the hands to those who have parts accounts. They do not sell these parts to the general public.

Ahhh! But bezels are exchange (assuming you haven’t lost it)?

My source is Omega directly, so if someone tells you something different, I would question that information...

I'd look elsewhere for a bidirectional 12h bezel - I think the Seamaster is cool as-is and wouldn't want to mess with it.

One idea is the Halios Fairwind, which is designed with a bidirectional bezel (dive or 12h options).

Another is to buy a cheaper beater diver with a 12h bezel and pop out the click spring - I did that with a Mint Evolutive I bought last year specifically for domestic travel:

Good watch. No date is a huge plus, and its NH35 movement kept better-than-chronometer time surprisingly - a nice bonus for a ~ $350 watch.

(Prob will be letting mine go too, if you want to PM me 😉 )

Thanks, @Archer! I’m sure you’re right! This is my first foray (well, second, but I didn’t need parts before) into Omega. ‘Prieciate the council!

Tha Helios is a good idea - really aD they don’t do a black dial version; the grey would annoy me (and blue is definitely out). The Halios is a nice piece - and it’s from Canada!

If the dial wasn’t so busy on your Mint, I’d consider it! I’m actually a date groupie, so it’s a bit of a backstop for me (as it is on the Omega).
I’ll chat with Jason to see if he can fit a black dial in the Fairwind. I don’t know that he does specials, though. They’re out of stock of everything at the moment.

Hey @Archer, the word on the street is that I can pick up a titanium mesh from Omega - do you know if they are actually available? They’re roughly the same colour as my Bremont case and might fit nicely!

If you want me to check something specific, you are going to have to be specific about what you want checked. Provide the model reference of the watch that has the bracelet you are interested in.

Sorry to be so vague. Not being that familiar with Omega, I didn’t think there would be more than one Titanium mesh - but that’s likely wrong on reflection. Here’s the reference for the watch on bracelet: 210.90.42.20.01.001; I can’t find out (and don’t know) if there is any number for the bracelet on its own.
