I don’t think they could have gotten them any closer together. Think of the views out of all the windows. Imagine driving home a little too drunk at night.

    From the NYT article:
“The Yerdelen brothers, construction entrepreneurs from Istanbul riding a real estate boom, had plans to build more than 700 minicastles, with turrets and breezy rooftop terraces overlooking the forest, aiming to draw in Arabs from the Gulf countries who love to come to Turkey for its lush nature and Mediterranean climate.

“At first, business was brisk: Half the castles were sold, they said, and building was going apace. Then oil prices slumped, hitting the buyers. Meanwhile, between terrorist attacks, a failed coup attempt and what many experts say was unsustainable borrowing, cronyism and huge public works projects with little economic return, Turkey’s economy ground to a halt.

“Now, the development is almost at a standstill as the partners work their way through bankruptcy court but are still allowed to trade, their futures debated regularly in the news media.”

Is there just the one garage in the middle of town to serve all the houses?

If there were even two of these within miles of each other the owners would each spend all their time watching the other through an eight foot long brass telescope plotting to overthrow the other. Their kids forced to wear Minions costumes.

All of this is bad for business, but what about the elephant in the room... you know, like, taste?

That picture looks like someone went wild with the cloning tool in photoshop. Utterly ridiculous, and like @kkt said - where the heck are they supposed to park? There aren't even driveways on those things.

Still I'd love to see the inside of one of them. Will have to go google to see what I can find.

Must have been hundreds of people involved in this abomination.... and no-one questioned the incredible lack of taste?

Most of the houses look to have been raised as if ready to be transported by house moving trucks. They might have been built somewhere else and moved there, or built there with the intention they be moved to a buyer's property.

As for lack of taste, I've seen worse , especially the styrofoam McMansions that spring up over night like mushrooms.

There is an interesting cultural proposition to be discussed here regarding the density of the build.
In Kuwait you will find that residential land is so difficult to come by and so expensive that folks buy a plot and develop as much of it as possible.
Large gardens are very uncommon as it’s too damned hot to use them for most of the year.
Consequently, you will find multi, multi, multi millionaires living cheek by jowl with their neighbours as in the development above.
Cars are generally parked on the small paved area in front of the house - under a sun shade.

Construction is generally concrete frame and block and render.
I don’t think there will be any moving them.

I often complain about the neighbors letterbox being to close to mine on the 83km drive home from it.
