Al, glad you are alive and recovering. I had a surprise heart attack at age 39 and 4 by-pass at 45. Please take care of yourself!
So sorry to hear that Al, do focus on your health! So the instructions from the Docs will look something like this: less red meat and cut down on the fat (translation: eat more fish and poultry, be sure to marinate in your favorite calorie/fat reduced sauce) alcohol in moderation (so that means only 1 or 2 glasses of scotch a day...) exercise regularly (we generally ask for 5 d per week, start slow and increase gradually-so lifting the scotch glass is the first thing you have to do when you get home) you will suddenly need to take medications (often a lipid lowering agent, a beta blocker, and ASA-be sure to take them on time. And not with the scotch...) don't let me get started on the sex restrictions... and yes, you will need to take it easy for a set period of time...maybe take up a hobby that's not strenuous, like watchmaking... And best wishes/thoughts for recovery!!
Good news! My grandmother had a major heart attack (A Widow-maker, no less!) when she was 42 years old. She then proceeded to live well into her 90's. take care of yourself I can't give better advice than any of the good doctors here so I'll leave it at that...
Speedy recovery Al. You were mentioned as a great guy at the omega event in King of Prussia. Take care Sir.
I think that "67 REPLIES - 646 VIEWS" on a thread that's not even a day old says it all. We're very glad you're still with us I hope they get you out of the hospital quickly. Cheers to a fast recovery.
I just read this but I wanted to wish you a quick recovery , and to ask you to rest well. And if your cardiologist asks you to service his JLC / Lange / Patek / AP, tell him politely to wait in line. But if your cardiologist is a she, well, the rest of us may not mind if you allow her some leeway ;-) Get well soon!
Get well Al and take care. After my ticker took a nose dive in February my doc said moderation & more moderation. Now she says, "go climb that set of stairs." So I'm trying and thinking about a #4 wife!
I do appreciate all the good wishes and watch puns very much! I think the doc (male) is wearing a tag...oh well I fix those too. When he's here I am more focused on what he is saying than what watch he has on though. If I remember I'll look more closely next time I see him. So this afternoon I have a stress test to check how things are going, and I will either be home tomorrow, or back in the OR for another stent on a partially blocked artery...as much as I want to be out of here I want to make sure if this other one needs to be taken care of we get that done and over with. Thanks again guys...the wishes mean a lot. Cheers, Al
