What year is this one? Is the lume fading on some of the markers or just a reflection?

Its a 1979/1980 6.1M serial, very last batch of 1680 Submariners, the dial was perfect when I got it, but in servicing the watchmaker caused the lume to fall off while blowing dust off of it, its about $600 for a replacement period correct dial, and I'd get $300 odd for that one so next service I'll swap an exactly correct replacement in from the late 1970s to keep it correct and make it perfect.

The bezel is the original fat-font bezel from 1979, something odd about these last couple of years from 78-79 is that they faded extremely badly compared to most others (they all fade most don't go silver like this though). Its a completely natural fade over 30 years of constant use. Oddly the bezel is the most valuable part of the whole watch by far.

Oddly the Submariner is my favorite watch too, even though I own far more Omegas and like them a lot, though my two new solid gold Omegas may change that.

There are a few really nice watches here that I could actually wear...particularly like the military Omegas.

Here's my black dial Connie. I have another one very similar but with a cross hair dial currently getting a service (no pics unfortunately).

And my original black dialled DeVille:

I also have a black dial Tudor Oyster Prince 34 with the tuxedo dial, but that is also off getting a service, so again no pics.

Love the black dials - especially the black waffle dials!

I've still got the $1,700 bill for my 1680 Submariner somewhere from them... seriously need to find a quality watchmaker that doesn't cost the earth in Brisbane

Unfortunately it is gold plated. The dial is original and has never been repainted and it has a tissot branded movement which is pretty much the same as the cal. 33.3 movement of omega.
