Caseback a bit harder to find since the typical combination was white gold arrowhead markers with rose gold observatory in the caseback though I've seen variants with the much more common yellow gold observatory which is probably also correct. And BTW, the early connies with white gold markers - whether arrowhead or a different style - are distinctly less common than their yellow gold counterparts.
The Chilean seller was a perfect gentleman and he refunded me. Seems that the guys at the postal service has been stealing his stuff as he had lost a few. He has been shipping Fedex since.
You should be a friend of Stephan Pastis.........the king of pun........ http://www.gocomics.com/pearlsbeforeswine/2013/02/25
My first foray into Vintageville. Clean watch from the 70's, redial, pretty large for the time (40mm, 22mm lugs) Keeps really good time.
Ok I just got word that my first vintage Omega was just delivered to my house! I work on a golf course and I've been here since 6 this morning. Off like a prom dress at 1:00 sharp and making a b-line for the homestead! Can't wait to post pics!!!! I am so excited! It's like Christmas!
Ok here she is... I'm in love. i guess ill look for another band. Here are some numbers I have.. im not sure what they mean.. Maybe you guys can help..? Also, is it possible that my sea master is a deville? the seller sent me some service paperwork and it said Seamaster DeVille. I do know its from 1960. Caliber 570, 17 jewels, serial number in the 17million mark and then some number that says 0717. Another number that says ref. 14725-3-sc. I have no idea what that means..
14.725 is the case reference (model) number and it's the 3rd generation. I forget what SC means - might be for center sweep seconds? The serial number on the caliber 570 denotes a manufacture date of late '59 or '60.
Mine's alot like yours and I'm sure whilst I was researching mine I read that some SeaMasters from around the late 50's were actually SeaMaster DeVilles even though they were only marked SeaMaster. I may not be 100% correct so probably best waiting for one of the more experienced members to confirm this for you. Hope I helped even if only a little.
De Ville wasn't put on the dial until 1963, and that was done by request of the US importer Norman Morris. There were a few models referred to as De Villes from 1960 until 1963. Omega did this through 1967 when the De Ville became a separate line from the Seamaster.
Just looked on the data base and your watch isnt described as a SeaMaster De Ville. Here's the info from the database.
It's good to know as I wasn't 100% sure, my watch is described as a SeaMaster De Ville on the database but my dial doesn't have deville wrote on it
Since it's a front loader (unishell) many sellers mistake it for being in the De Ville line. Mostly we just let it slide. Close enough, you know?
HeyHey the thanks for the info. It's interesting learning about this piece.. Im really enjoying staring at this beaut. I can hardly wait to walk around all day tomorrow with this thing on my wrist..lol. In the market for a new band, I think.. my photography stinx, by the way. I'd like to work on that, too..
This is a Ref. 157.0001. I bought it some years ago. Works great after a service. I like the fact, that it runs a Chronometer certified Cal. 712, without a second hand. The problems of the dial and the markers are clearly visible, though.
Family piece passed down: Not exactly my style but I can't sell it. In any case, in opened the floodgates. Best, T.
