Can a dial look this new on such an old watch?
Dennis has an entire thread devoted to period correct Longines dial fonts. Both of these dials look good. Not certain about the crown on the Conquest (looks good no matter). That's a beautiful watch - It's not unreasonable to assume that it will hold or appreciate in value for the long term.
No idea, I don't collect these. I'd ask the seller to discount on this account (I'd show him the pictures)...
The Conquests dial is refinished. There should be some lume near the markers. So i think the Price is too high. Sold mine for 1300 Euros. rgds - h.u.
Too polished and a replacement crown - WAY too high of a price. It would have to be a genuine NOS piece with the original box & papers to pull that kind of money. As mentioned, it's a redial and too much paint is missing from the medallion. It would have to be in excellent condition to pull that kind of money. Yes- but they aren't as common as you'd think judging by the B.S. descriptions that eBay sellers use.
Thanx guys. I am glad I found this forum. I emailed both sellers before posting here and both sent me an email stating that they only deal in original non refinished watches. I guess I shouldn't be surprised in this day and age.
