What would forum members do if Omega were producing them for Apple? Doubtless we'd see a lot of "My watch has crashed, has it happened to anyone else?" in the Modern section. Imagine the replies from the purists. Priceless
They'll sell millions of these, even the first revision. It's the nicest looking "gadget" watch I've seen. Double-folding deployant clasp is really impressive too, as far as the genre goes. That's classy. Compared to some of the current alternatives: Motorola 360: Samsung Galaxy Gear
Agree with that view. I was amazed they were able to show the strap options yesterday! Apple typically revamps an area it enters and their designs are of the type that usually leave onlookers like us affected. Meaning views are quite strong either way...LOVE 'em or HATE 'em
Yeah, remember how the first iPad release went? There was tons of people commenting about how it's just a bigger iPhone, nobody would ever need anything like it, why more iCrap? etc.
If it's a touch screen, you'll need fingers like rat's claws to operate it - or you'll have to shout "Siri, what's the time?" at your wrist.
I always disable Siri, she's an annoying b..... The watch "digital crown" for navigating lists and other data seems like a good idea. Helps with the fat fingers covering a tiny screen dilemma.
Deciphering lists on that things sounds like another nightmare. Self induced torture minus a monocle or screen glued to your face
I wonder if the big wigs have got all their high end watches together round the board table and said right, what do we want from this lot to appear on our watch - I mean they have even thought of a nice mesh bracelet too!!
Haven't really read up on the watch but is this something of great utility if one does not own an apple phone or tablet? My take on the looks at least is it has a first generation product look to it.
They will sell a lot for sure (a sucker is born every minute after all), but to claim this will kill off all low level quartz watches is really missing the quartz watch market. Most of the 15 year old (at heart) geeks who will buy this likely don't wear a watch now. To them it's not primarily a watch, but another smaller phone interface they can wear on their wrist. And if this is the best looking one out there (subjective I know) it's pretty piss poor IMO. And I really like some of the Ikepod watches that Newson designed....
Bingo - exactly what I thought when I first saw it. Except, it won't get any love in our house: I don't wear quartz much; my wife prefers quartz, but wants it to look like a proper ladies watch; the kids have little quartz cartoon wtaches & there's no way there're getting anything like this until they're old enough to work and buy it themselves !
Ever since my last MacBook broke after a year or so I'd bought it, I gave up on Apple altogether. I now have a Windows computer and a MotoX as my phone. I don't regret it for a minute.
