http://s1097.photobucket.com/user/ceasuldemana/library/ZENITH 146 DP I'd like to make an offer, but I'd love to hear opinions first as to any concerns... I'm thinking the 2K to 2.7K range of it's fully legit... Thank you!
Same guy that tried to sell you the redial (http://omegaforums.net/threads/zenith-18k-146d-am-i-a-fool.18006/) turns around and comes up with a legit one after being confronted? That's interesting. this one looks good though - later replacement crown.
I've got to hold more shady dealers and redialers' feet to the fire. I've evidently been missing a gold mine.
I'm still not sure if I should take the chance with him as a seller, but if he'll take a low 2's price on the good one, I just might risk it...
I don't see a movement number, or a case number for that matter, though the case-back has '382o' or '382D' with the last three blanked out. Any thoughts, LouS?
So, is it normal the movement has no number inscribed? I understand the 'D' cases were used on Zenith's from 1968-70...
He doesn't show a decent, in-focus pic of the gashes on the pushers, but those might be bad enough I may have to pass. I'll ask him for a better pic of those first, however... Thanks for your help, Lou!

Yes, a better example. The crown looks pinker than the case; perhaps not original? 5-point star on crown would be correct?
The crown is correct for this model. Certain post-1965 models got Z-in-star crowns. The Turtle Captains, for example. Not sure about the color... exact color-matching of crown and case in those days seems improbable to me, and the plated crown and solid case will age differently... but I like the way you quibble.
Plated crowns, eh? I guess that's pretty routine for most gold watches, as the stem has to be hard and stiff, thus made all as one piece? I have much to learn, and thanks for the help...
And I guess pushers are usually plated, too, am I correct? I can see the underside of the top one looks like maybe it's worn off...
I'll post up seller's shots on 'What did you buy today?', but certainly will post 'real' ones when it arrives... Thanks for your help! I think I owe you a finders fee..
Doug. The crown can't be solid gold. As you rightly observe, the steel stem has to screw into something of a similar hardness so the crowns are plated, or capped, at the best. Pushers could be solid if they are the one-piece type, but mostly they will be brass (or some other base metal), plated with gold.
