Well, you decide. Let's see who can tell me which watch has an original dial and which is a refinished dial?

    Vote either top or bottom.

I'll play. Left or top is original, right or bottom is redial.

Even though the top one looks too good to be true, the "AUTOMATIC" in the lower pic lets me think this one's the redial.

No 1 is redial. No 2 is original. The iceblue circle on no 1 looks like redial, while the do circle on no 2 looks like something from the factory

Know nothing on these, would the vertical crosshair passing the "M" in automatic be a clue?
Ok! it's not a q&a session so i'll guess original is bottom.

    Top is redial (swiss looks off);
    Original is bottom.

Top is original?..... the Automatic on the lower dial looks a bit trashy.

Knowing nothing about Longines, my first observation was that the word AUTOMATIC on the bottom/ right one looks over-inked but the word LONGINES is better spaced when compared to the wings, on the same one. So if it isn't a trick question (and they're both re-dials) I'd say that the bottom/right one is the original especially as the guilloche pattern is more intact on this dial.

I immediately preferred automatic and Swiss on he bottom one. Hope that's original.

One on the right (bottom) is original, I think. It has circular guilloche and a sharp lip down to the subseconds dial. I don't see any guilloche on the left side dial (it may be there, I can't tell) and the lip is rounded.

Mrs mothra thinks the top is original. Please god let me be right or I will never hear the end of it. She is already talking about her natural talent for redial spotting. You would hope a couple of years on this board would give me a head start on 'shiny shiny'...

Well, I don't know if this is good news or bad news for you - you are correct and Mrs. Mothra is not. The bottom / right watch is the original.

If the redial had a little thicker inking of AUTOMATIC it would probably have passed.

The guilloché is there, just not as easy to spot in the photo. Good catch on the crispness of the subdial edges.

Usually, you'd be correct that over inking is a key to spotting redials. Not in this case though.

    Another good spot.

Correct, but for the wrong reason. The SWISS weirdness is probably just distortion from the curve of the crystal.

ps - I own both watches, although the redial is going up for sale on eBay soon.

What, an education game that ended within 2 hours? ..........Unfair !!!! Certainly not an International games standard :p

Well, good thing I read this slowly to test my hunch, and am glad that my hunch is right :). Still missing the suspense of waiting the answer, though.
My biggest clue is the thickness of inking. Not in automatic font, but at the rest of dial: minute markers, cross hair, track circle etc. Similar with early Connies, it is very difficult for redial artist to match the thinness of original dial inking.

:) Great game, thanks Dennis. GLWS. Apparently Mrs Mothra is bored of watches now.
