I have a 69' omega speedmaster pre moon i recently purchased. Was driving one day with my hand near the aircondition of my car then i noticed that it fogged inside the glass. I put the watch in a warm area ( on top of my coffee) then the fog disappears but as soon as i wear it it forms back again. Does this mean there is something wrong with the watch? Your expert advices will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Moisture in it, has it been serviced recently? If it hasn't I'd just send it to a watchmaker for an overhaul, and new seals.

    Yes.
Many of this vintage will not pass a WP test.
    Corrosion is a culprit.
A service will help survive daily life, especially in humid countries.

I gave my wife a 69, freshly services. She wore it in he shower. It survived but I asked her not to make a habit of it!

I would put the watch into some rice as soon as possible to draw out the moisture

If he had it serviced, and it fogs, then my bet is that the case is corroded at the junctions - or the pushers were not changed,

This just happened to my 1983 Speedmaster although it was no where near as severe as on your watch, I immediately sent it off to STS to get checked out as although the Speedy will never be a divers watch you certainly shouldn't see any condensation under the crystal.

Nice looking watch by the way!!

That sailor's got three arms :eek::eek:

Wonder which one he wears his watch on ::confused2::

BTW, I hope they isolated 415VAC power to that control box or the leaky pipe will be the least of their worries.

Leave the crown pulled out while it is sitting in the desicant/rice. It would be ideal to open the back. You want to make sure the moisture is removed as soon as possible.

Thanks again everyone for the helpful tips. Here is a picture of the movement from the original owner. Seems clean so i suspect the leak is coming from the seals and gaskets? Will have it serviced in omega tom. Hope it wont cost me an arm and a leg

Btw when he had it serviced he only had the movement cleaned. No parts were changed

I just can't tell, is that a joke?
Because rice definitely will not draw anything out of the watch.
No one ever got salt dry with rice. It just doesn't work like that.

Hm, writing this... it was a joke...

If you search online some say the rice draws the moisture out. The same instructions apply if you accidentaly drop your phone in water. Havent tried it though. I used the dessicant bags. But im having the watch cleaned tomorrow

Actually the joke is if you drop your phone in water, put it in a bag of rice and wait for the asians to come and fix it for you
