    Hands are short.

Hello Danny, and welcome to the Forum. These '60s DeVilles are too modern for me ;) so I am no expert on this particular watch, however -

Tim Mackrain, the seller, is an honest and reliable trader, and he always does a fine job of servicing Omega movements. But (and for me it is a big but) he has this terrible habit of fitting generic Swiss-made hands which are not correct for the watch. In this case the minute and hour hands are far too short - the minute hand should extend right out to the edge of the dial, where the minute marks are. So from an Omega collector's point of view, the watch has straight away lost a great deal of its value. Others who are more knowledgeable about these '60s Omegas will probably weigh in shortly with further observations.

P.S. I see I have just cross-posted with Hoi, who makes the same observation!

Thanks Guys, good to know that he is reliable. However, like you said if its lost value by replacing the hands, then its back to the drawing board! I assume its unlikely that I could find the correct hands for this watch?

Should be longer stick hands like these, as mentioned above, and not dauphin hands...

That's a lot of money for a non-original SM De Ville

One thing that Tim does is totally strip down and re-plate the external movement parts to a uniform copper color, like when it was new. I know of no other eBay seller who routinely does this. I agree that the price is way high, but you are getting a bit more for your money than from the average eBay gouger.

Correct NOS hands for this watch are generally avaliable, so I don't know why he doesn't just buy them in the first place.

Unfortunately this can hide any nasty previous damage or mismatched parts.

Cheers! Will do! As it happens I have found another one, I could actually go to the shop and look at it as well as its near me in London. However it looks alot different to the normal Seamaster Deville, maybe its a special edition? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gents-Vin...es_Watches_MensWatches_GL&hash=item3f3590bbadPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

Its not a Seamaster, just a DE VILLE and from the looks of the printing on the dial likely has one of the ultra thin movements probably a cal 711.

    Price is ridiculous.

Be wary! Notice there is no photo of the case back . . . and they do mention "a couple of scratches" No picture of the movement, either. And all for lots of money.

I'm also not convinced Wimbledon watches is a physical store having looked at their website. I think its just a poncy way of saying 'we sell a lot of watches on ebay'
