I would try and develop a long term relationship with Al Archer. He's got the patience of a saint and he'll photo and video document his work on your watch so it's literally like your sitting in his uber modern shop watching him work on your watch.
Archer isn't just a battery and mainspring changer. He's like the Jimi Hendrix of watch making and repair. He was a true pioneer in creating his own watch making company.
He's arguably the leading Omega repair guy in North America,,,and did I mention...he has the patience of a saint.
He's passionate about educating watch owners and collectors about how their little machines work. From the simplest 2 hand watch to the most complicated references.
If his plate is too full he'll be straight as an arrow with you ( pun intended as he's a world class archer ). Dude is like Ernest Hemingway vs. Les Paul.
I would contact him by private message, explain what your general plans are for your future as a watch enthusiast and see if you guys are on the same page you're in luck . What I wouldn't do is start dictating terms to him like "I need this done by Tuesday".
Ironically, I've never done a penny of business with Mr. Archer and all of my anecdotes are based on observation.
I'm fortunate enough to have a relationship with a watchmaker perhaps as competent as Al. But, my guy is a friend and he doesn't take new clients.
Al is upfront about his pricing for everything and the money you save with him will be a fraction of the very safe method of secure shipping and handling. You don't even need to leave your house.
