sorry--what are the "best" brands that are re-issuing vintage pieces ? "best" brands compared to rolex and patek ? which would those be ?

I don’t consider Rolex one of the best but that’s another argument. I meant Zenith as one of the better brands understands people want that type of watch

In the 60s/70s...sure. Not sure what zenith has made since the El primero movement and chronos that would put them in this class. In fact I think Jean claude biver was appointed ceo because the brand was seen as completely lost and directionless by parent lmvh

Hands down best looking new watch I've seen this year. Love the remade Gay Freres bracelet too.

37mm case size ? …with at least 3mm of metal case / ring, either side of the dial

So…the chronograph dial ( with sub dials ), is probably visually smaller…than a 36mm Datejust ?

Whilst I adore the styling …it’s definitely one, for bijoux wrists, & flawless eyesight

nah.. .look at my pic earlier in the thread. i definitely have wrists on the smaller end but the square-ish case wears much larger

on IG northshorechrono has a great example and he has large wrists and it wears spectacularly

unless your day job is WWE i do not think size would be a barrier to buying this (or the original). its completely different animal than a 36mm movado m95, for example

I am very exciting about this watch, I think it is an excellent movement from Zenith. They made a revival, and I love it. They made a small limited series, 100 pieces, so it will not be everywhere.

For me, the decision was clear, I saw it in instagram early in the morning, and before taking the breakfast, I bought it. it is gorgeous and sure I will love and enjoy it as a Zenith lover.

if you don’t like it, it’s ok. Don’t buy it. And that’s all. But saying Zenith should don’t do watches like that because most people don’t like it ... well, it is only necessary to have 100 of happy owners.

Vintage cover girl is one of my objectives ... the revival will not cancel that, I think both watches can be in the collection, revival does not replace the vintage.

(my opinions here)

BTW:
-watch is sold with two straps, not with the bracelet (MISTAKE: it includes also the ladder bracelet)
-dial is not like the original... the vintage has clearly defined different colors for the dial and subdials ... revival has a more flat dial, with the same color
-the dial includes a lot of luminova, much more than the original, in subdials hands, including the tachymeter and the shark dents rings
-of course it is sapphire on both sides, the original came with plexiglass on front, steel on the back
-tachometer is not an additional 3D ring, like vintage dial, it is a flat dial on the revival

Why do you think it doesn't come with the ladder bracelet?
It clearly says it does:

That’s a pretty cool lume shot.

But I’d might be pissed when that watch shows up without the bracelet given the photos of the watch included on the order page (and I could’ve been dense, but it did not jump out at me anywhere a clear statement that the bracelet is not included).

I think it's definitely added. Otherwise, these product photos would be misleading.

Yes! You are right... my mistake (I have just edited)

I read it too fast while I was nervous buying it ... fυck!

While I do like it a lot, what ruins it is the light green luminescent markers. I don't know if they were that way originally, but even so I dislike the look, esp. against the blue dial.

If anyone has got original CG, and ordered this re-make, make a photo comparison. Would be nice to see.

i wish the 384 revival indices looked like these. the upcharge on the 100p collab is high.

if i were to buy it feels like i'm driving a new caddie of the lot and watching my hundo's fly out the window,

Was discussing this with @wristpirate - the re-edition might have been based on the Zenith exhibition/museum piece, which has a more matt and darker color dial like my vintage piece below . Less vibrant compared to the other examples out there.

In the revolution product video, the tachy and dial printing do not appear to be lumed. Perhaps Tonare's picture was a result of reflection from the UV torchlight.

There is no upcharge. The a384 revival on bracelet is also $8,100 (and comes with no extra straps). The A3818 is a value purchase!

Of course, the actual price paid from a dealer/grey market for the a384 is probably $1k lower than MSRP.
