    Hi all,

I've been looking a while to purchase a vintage Zenith as a fine dresser in my collection.
I think I found one that thicks the boxes but the font is where the doubt came in.
I'm ready to pull the trigger, but would like your advice before I continue, so redial or not?
The seller states as original btw.

    Thanks in advance :)

It looks ok. What’s the asking price? Link to listing to see more pics?

Ok great! They ask 500 euro for it, it’s 35mm and 14k gold. What I’ve seen the movement is a cal 120. Besides the spots? on the dial it looked in great shape. Very sharp case and original crown.

Will make a decision tomorrow if I should take it.
    Thanks for the expertise :)

€500 seems high to me for that. I’d pass and look elsewhere

Then I will continue my search, what would’ve been a decent price point for the piece? Most of the ones I see who are not overly polished or damaged start around the 400/500 (solid gold that is) and go up to 1k+.

The price for gold is record high so metalvalue is more then 300 today. Not a bargain but ok price in my opinion.

Don't see many 14k cases. Any photo of inside caseback?

As said already a fair price considering gold content.

Zenith is from 1959 as the movement number 4975241 refers go for it € 500,- is a reasonable price and the 120 movement is great !

Yes you don’t see many 14k Zenith pieces but also most people/collectors prefer 18k. I think you can find a better example and in 18k for the same price. Be patient, there’s a lot of great Zenith pieces and they don’t get the same respect as Omega, Universal etc

Not a terrible deal and looks like an honest attractive watch, the case looks quite sharp. You might possibly find something in 18k for the same price, with luck and a lot of patience, but it could take quite a while. Especially given the price of gold these days. It's a thumbs-up from me.

Just as a reference, I’ve managed to get 3 18K Zenith’s lately for $300-600 so it’s very possible.

Somehow it doesn't surprise me. If anyone can find great Zeniths at good prices, it's you.

LOL. here’s one of them. Cal 12-4 with ‘sandwich’ dial. Waiting for the full extract but they said 1936 before they closed for summer break. One of those odd pieces that has a serial number that starts with 7

Hi all, new member here. It’s great to see so much variation in appearance. It keeps the Sporto line interesting- almost like no two are ever the same!!
I have recently acquired a 50s Sporto for not much money which I’m pretty sure is a redial/refurb job. I’d love to get the opinions of wise forum members once I get chance to take a couple of photos!

    Is the dial cracked?
The pics will be better if you take it off your wrist, & maybe use a stand for the camera/phone.

I’m thinking it’s been repainted and fine cracks have appeared. The camera picks them up, but they’re not visible to the naked eye. 252E80CF-0586-4698-9A31-F5548B2A0E72.jpeg

But remarkably it does have the star and z crown. Which I’m assuming is correct and the wear to the case looks honest.
