does anyone know what these were for? Giveaway? Promoting a specific watch? Pocket? The opposite side is a mirror.
I bet it’s from the teens or early twenties, probably a giveaway to celebrate an accuracy competition victory.
Have you compared the image with their period advertising? The image seems familiar to me. EDIT: Just spent 15 minutes trying to search on the internet, without success, looking for the image.
I did but found nothing. Of course I’ll come across it by accident while searching for some unrelated thing
I followed the pinterest link but the pinner didn't add where he got it from. (BTW it's super easy to make a throwaway one)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Ze...blicita-Le-Locle-Neuchatel-Swiss/372611153189Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network I just noticed that there is a stamped signature as well. Will look tomorrow with a loupe
Looking closely it is signed Huguenin Dep. They were/are located in Le Locle and have been crafting handmade medals and other items since the 1800s. You can also find watches with their name on the dial but produced by different companies. Looking at other examples and the signature stamp I would agree with airansun that it is from 1910-20s
So I got a telephone call from the Heritage Dept at Zenith. Wow! I had sent them a picture of the Medal/Mirror and they were very interested as they had no idea what it was. Hard to believe. The woman guessed it may have been a giveaway as we thought or that things like this were for sale in Zenith stores at the time. She suggested 1910-1920 based on an advertisement that they just emailed me. She also said this was directed at the Swiss and German market. A very gesture to reach out and call like that and let me know you’re always welcome to visit, if I just happen to be in Switzerland. They definitely earned my respect and loyalty.
