Looks nice! Thinner case is a huuuge plus, and I can't wait to try it on. I also like that they've gotten rid of the star on the chrono hand, that was always kinda annoying. But I think I might have preferred the paddle, or at least the option. Otherwise, maybe a little more differentiation on the three chrono registers, to better identify which one's for minutes and which one is seconds. The 1/10th second function is really cool though of course. No ladder bracelet's a miss, too, but this is a big improvement! And then there's this one, which is also pretty cool: There's also a gold one a la G386 which looks gorgeous but given how self-conscious I was wearing even a bronze watch, I doubt I'll go for that one.
I really like the slim(mish) profile! Even though the bracelet seems good, would only get one with the strap. The black one has new look, which is nice. Only a matter of time when I get tri-color El Primero, maybe this new one. Or older.
They’ve absolutely smashed these imo. Great looking watches would have preferred a paddle on the Chrono hand but that’s the only grumble.
Great job from Zenith, they're all gorgeous Impressed by the technical geeky thing about the 1/10th of second, even if I'm not totally convinced by its usefulness
As much as I like the original paddle hands I can understand why it was removed for these. Imagine the paddle flying around and doing one sweep of the dial in 10 seconds. A fine execution all round on these. The black reverse panda dial is very cool, takes inspiration from the original and adds it's own modern twist.
All three watches (tri-colour, reverse panda and gold) are beautiful, almost perfect really. The let-down for me is the bracelet - it looks like a poorly executed imitation of the current Daytona bracelet. The clasp is basically identical!
I like most of the Zenith re-issues, they have done a masterful job in staying as true to OG spec as possible while leveraging cal. 400. I'm partial to the A384, have one coming in next week with the ladder bracelet. Can't wait to get it on my wrist.
Would the OEM ladder bracelet for the 50th Anniversary editions of the A384 work on this 2021 38mm A386 reissue? I can't seem to find lug width details for both models on Zenith's website.
I'm loving this new release too!! All through COVID I've been trying to decide between the 38mm and the 42mm, then before I had a chance to see them in the flesh they all disappeared from stores! I just need to find a dealer here in California to try one of these (or the new Sport) on my actual wrist!
Reason for 1/10th second scale head back to the very beginning of industrialization and of assembly line production. It was used to stop production runs. So maybe famous Henry Ford used such kind of watch
So one can argue in our "modern times" (please note the jokey hint ) it has only sentimental value to true capitalists
