Love it. the a386 is one of my absolute faves, and i have always liked the A271 dial. a great combination. I like how they kept it vintage. 38mm is perfect for me.

Very nice but the registers are maybe too large / too close together, gives it a slightly cross-eyed look. 38mm no-date is awesome though, if they're not already sold out I doubt they'll last long!

Would be interesting to try to put a ladder bracelet with ZJs on this watch (if the case is truly exactly the same)

I think they did a very nice job - really one of the better modern vintage-looking pieces. I do love the 3-minute hashmarks and the crosshair on the running seconds subdial. The piece this is modeled after is a manual wind cal 146, and the Primero sort of has to be 'dumbed down' (no date, no hour register) to work here (as in the Rolex Daytona) - I can't help but be a little ambivalent in cases where the glory of the machinery is spurned.

It's not the same case as either the piece it is modeled on (below), or the A386

I agree they did a good job on the vintage look, and the grey dial looks very nice overall, but I find the registers are too close together, "cross-eyed" or whatever it's called.

In the introduction post they mention that the case is modeled after the A386 and while not exact it looks pretty close:

That being said I agree with @abrod520's observation of the ever so slight imbalance of the dial - the A386 has the benefit of the dark base100 track which helps frame the subdials in the available dial space, while the cal146 pushes the subdials all the way out towards the tachymetre track, thus giving it a wide-eyed look which is more aesthetically pleasing. The Hodinkee LE El Primero has that pushed-in look due to the space between grey space between outer edges of the subdials and the tachymetre track.
Given it's due to the movement constraints, they could have kept some sort of inner track or extended the hashes to try to offset the empty space.
But the color and finish of the dial is quite gorgeous, and bravo for having it certified as a chronometre.

Would have preferred they keeping the recessed subdials that both the A27X and A386 had - the new dial feels (and is) flat. And what's up with the small crown!? But all in all, a fantastic job in catering to us vintage nuts!

Much chunkier on the wrist. Not unpleasant, but a different feel. The design differences are interesting. Note that the lugs and body of the A386 are only about half the height of the case. The movement "tub" hangs well below. The body of the case only encases half the pushers & crown. In the modern version (which is Zenith's standard Primero case), the lugs and body encase the entire movement tub, extending as far below pushers and crown as above. The vintage version emphasizes - even exaggerates - the slimness of the movement, is svelte and elegant. The modern case is more substantial, and gives an impression of solidity and substance. Each is a great reflection of the properties of a watch that were valued in its time.
