Zenith and Girard Perregaux are underrated?

    Hello to all,

Being new to vintage watches, i've noticed that there's a big diference between new and vintage Zenith and Girard Perregauxs. Let me explain: from what i can see, vintage watches of these two brands are relatively cheap, specially when compared with Omega. This lovely Zenith Sporto is being sold, with box, for 305 €. It looks in good condition, has a nice in house movement and is, overall, a nice dress watch.

In your opinion what makes the diference between these watches and Omega?

    Regards,

    João

Vintage Zenith and Eterna are my favorite watches but don't come up for sale around here too often and when they do the sellers are usually asking a lot. I can't remember the last time I saw a vintage GP around here.

A friend of mine like vintage GP and they bring good value to the brand and movement.

I guess I should have explained myself better; around here as in where I live.

Those watches really are nice though, especially the first Gyromatic. I picked up one just like that back in 1995. Sent it to a local watchmaker for servicing who "lost it".

I dunno about underrated - that implies that they have some objective value that isn't being realised. But they sure are good value for money if you manage to snag a nice one.

Dial & Bezel, could you please give us some details on your chronograph GP? It looks absolutely fantastic. Congrats. Looking forward to getting some details.

Here's my GP Olimpico 8846. And if you'd like to know more, forumer Blomman has an amazing collection of GP chronographs over at another forum; read his posts with the pics.

And yes, quite a few vintage Zeniths are under the radar (certainly not the A386 though). Wearing my A271 today:

Thank you, @zrleopold and @peire06! I don't know the exact reference of this piece but I know it's from the 60s. :D I'll look it up and will update you guys!
