Are these the same watch? Discuss. Zenith A386, as posted by @jsaen in 2015: 231E166 Watch as available today "in excellent original condition. The watch comes with its original dial and hands, tachymeter scale featuring seriffed 7’s and original NATO crown. The dials lumes has developed a beautiful yellow patina that matches the hands perfectly" 231E166
Weird... Engraving looks very similar, E looks like an F on both... 2nd one With yellow lume looks cool anyway and dealer is reputable...
Watches look to be different. Though its undeniably the same caseback. I've seen a fair amount of A386 recently with incorrect casebacks. Something fishy going on
Have a closer look at the dial... It is the same. Just an example of what lighting/camera equipment and (possibly) dealer prepping will do to a watch. I don't know S. Song that well, but know that he moves a fair bit of merchandise at rather high prices. Think that he is "legit" in the sense of the word that he is an established dealer.
@ConElPueblo hard to be 100% sure as the earlier photos are grainy. The second set of photos appear to be quite white washed, thereby making any minute blemishes on the dial seem less obvious. Though I think you’re right it’s the same dial. Couple of tells which I missed without zooming in a lot. Rotor replaced as part of service perhaps. Subdial hands appear to be different too. Hour & minute hands either repainted and relumed or entirely replaced. in the earlier photos there's a clear difference in lume colour between dial and hands. Dial relumed? Or is that another lighting and camera difference.
There is a tiny cluster of spots above the center of the dial as well as a light scratch between two of the subdials that are evident in both photos. No zoom needed
Agreed. The small line mark below the seconds subdial is conclusive enough to show they're the same dial. I’m calling the opticians tomorrow Or I’m getting a Samsung
Looking at other parts of the movement, you can see that the underside of the rotor has been rubbing quite badly. In the earlier photos, the top surface of the rotor is also badly marked. Although the replacement rotor is also slightly marked and I think is from a Cal. 400, it is a lot better than the first one.
just to update those interested, I've been in touch with SSong, apparently this piece is on consignment through him, so what he claims may not be entirely true, personally i think they are the same watch as picked out by the sharp eyes of @ConElPueblo possibly relume work done as well as change in several other parts to "prepare" this piece for sale
