Actually... yea I think I would. Depends what it cost to buy the watch but the dial actually looks ok, definitely seen many worse, the case isn't great, but it still has the brushing present on the front face, and while there are a lot of dings, they're relatively small dings, not major gouges. The pushers are there, and intact, they're just filthy. The movement is mucky and has some corrosion, but its actually not that bad either, my submariner was way worse and was salvaged easily. If an independent watchmaker put the movement back in good order, cleaned the whole watch of gunk and crap, and replaced the crystal, then gave it a light polish, it'd be an ok watch IMO.

The key is what does it cost, as-is? Because as you know, you're going to have to buy it very cheap to make it viable.

Depends, how much did it cost. If I got it close to free I sure would. Looks mostly very dirty.

I'm going to say if you buy under $500 its worth it, if you buy for $400 or less you've done well.

I'd pay $600 tops and that's only if I had the patience (which I rarely have for project watches anymore). It might even need a donor movement. Seeing as you can buy these in decent shape for reasonable prices, you might end up on the losing end after it's all said & done.

Nah, I only hit somebody with my stick once. I find a hand delivered pummeling is more satisfying. :D

See I like project watches, but you can never have more than one or two going at once, and you have to understand that if you're buying it as a project, you're going to have a longer wait time on it, and it needs to have a much better value (price paid + restoration Vs Retail price) than an already decent watch.

That's the way to do it. Only go over your head if it has sentimental value.
