Pretty rare actually, and I'm not very sure how to confirm one. Basically Globemaster was the original name but it was trademarked and they had to move to constellation. Globemaster was an American cargo/passenger plane. There is some info out there on them.

Nice original piece. It's on the pricey side though.

    You got it backwards.

In 1952, Omega introduced the Constellation worldwide, except for the USA. The issue was that TWA was using the Constellation name in its advertising, as that was the model name of the Lockheed aircraft they were using at the time. Omega and Howard Hughes (yes, that Howard Hughes) tried unsuccessfully to reach a deal. So no Constellation for the US.

So Omega called the model "Globemaster" instead. The Globemaster was used by the US military and Douglas Aircraft Co. was happy to have Omega use the name.

The watch is exactly the same as the 1950's Constellation, except that there is no name on the dial. Sometime around 1955, Hughes and Omega reached a deal for the use of the Constellation name. At that point, the Constellation was gradually phased in.

The Globemaster Automatic watch shown by the OP is a later US only model that used obsolete cal. 501 movements mated with US made gold-filled and steel cases. These date from the late 1950's to the early 1960's...not 1940. The example shown seems to be in very nice condition, although you should see a movement picture before making an offer.

However, the price of C$2,100 is absurd. Maybe half that would be reasonable.

To the OP. I think you're from Canada aren't you? So is the $2100 in USD or CDN?

So that makes it around $1500 USD. Probly still too high from the sounds of it.

wow.....thanks for all the info. I couldn't find anything on the net about it except a Globemaster that was released in 2015

I also think the price is way over priced......you should see some of the other ads on craigslist Vancouver. some are absurdly expensive for a Frankenwatch

and then others are a complete scam because the pics look like they were stolen from the internet of a perfect example of that watch. when you ask questions about the watch they're selling.....they know absolutely nothing about it

Just because something is rare doesn't make it special.

Take me for example; I'm pretty rare but I'm nothing special.

yeah, I thought that was kinda funny too

how do you go from $2,100 to $500 in a week? that's less than a quarter of the original asking price

I think they meant to type $1500. Maybe it's just a scam and they'll take whatever they can get, Who knows?
