    Hello everybody.

Sometimes you feel lucky when you find a good watch. And sometimes you feel more than that! Two days ago I landed what seems to be an incredibly good example of a 3.05 mill serial 145.022 speedmaster with original box and papers, sold in 1973 (after sitting for some time at the dealer).
I bought the watch from the original owner here in Denmark, where I live. The watch was given to him back in 1973 by his uncle, after finishing with great results after exams in school. Since then he rarely wore the watch, which is why the condition is very good.

So a few details about the watch:
    - The watch looks practically like new. It was serviced by Omega in Switzerland in late 2015 and was probably lightly polished (Think is is unrealistic that the sides of the case can appear completely without hairlines?
    - The case has super sharp edges and no dings or scratches. It almost looks unworn.
    - Comes with the rare 220 bezel in great condition.
    - Has a perfect step dial with great patina.
    - Has the pre moon SPEEDMASTER + Sea horse caseback that looks like new.
    - The hands are lighter in color than the dial. I do not know if this is possible without having been changed at some point. The
    - The watch came on a brand new Omega nato strap but no bracelet.

So what is your opinion on the watch? :)

I am not a Speedmaster pro collector and could also really need your help determine the value of this watch set - Just to know what I have on my hands? I have a hard time finding something to compare with.

    Thanks!

Given the overall condition and package, I'd say the case is original factory finish.

    Stunning.

    Congrats!

Isn't that one of the misprinted 220 bezels?

Edit: oops didn't read OP well enough

    Check out the price chart.

Is that just some crud and grime in the bezel around 6 o'clock? If so, given the full package, your probably heading past 'good' and towards 'collector' on the price chart.

That is one very lightly used watch!

Id be curious to see the inside of the case back to see if that's a replacement or not. Strikes me as odd that a piece in such nice condition has replaced hands.

Nonetheless, your watch is a beautiful specimen! Congrats!!

After gently cleaning the insert, it seems almost flawless.

    Thanks! :)

The watch was serviced by Omega in Switzerland a year ago. I have the original receipt from the service, confirming the same serial as the original paperwork. So everything seems legit. I suspect the hands were replaced at that point, as the original owner knew nothing about watches and surely did not send a disclaimer with the watch, not to change anything.

I have not got the skill, tools nor courage to remove the caseback myself, but will go to the local AD and have them check just to be sure.

You are going to damage the caseback with that strap :(

    Hello Cicindela.

The original owner bought the strap a month ago and has not used it since. So the watch has no wrist time with the strap. The caseback has been fitted with a transparent plastic sticker. Do you still think it is a problem wearing it with the watch then?

Should be fine with the case back sticker.

Can't believe wearing the watch would effect the caseback... Plastic cover on it is like leaving the plastic over the seats of a new car :D

    Nice watch - congrats

Here's another Danish 1969, serial 305xxxxx in mint condition. Your 220 bezel is a chip better, though.... :)
