Your opinion about this Geneve Dynamic

Hi there!
Today I found this Dynamic, which at first sight I like much. Much more than the one of my thread of yesterday.
According to the jewelry store, the reference number is 135.033.
It may become my first Omega watch, but before anything else I’d like to hear the views of the connaisseurs.
If I learned something during the last 24
hours, I believe this one belongs to the first generation of Dynamic.
Do you detect anything fundamentally wrong in the watch? Please see the pictures, and thank you very much in advance for your reply.

cosmetically it looks decent enough.

The case has been re-finished at some point. That's not a problem with these watches, as long as the radial pattern is preserved - which it has been. The radial pattern has smoothed out with age, so it's an "OK" case, but not an "OMG, I must buy this" case.

Second hand looks original. The hour/minute hands are correct and suspiciously clean, so might be replacements.

The strap is an early 70's leather replacement (probably Omega, but check), so it didn't come with the watch and dates from a few years after the watch does. Hardly any of the original straps survive, so that isn't a big deal - just know what you are getting. Also, try to avoid buying a Dynamic with non-original strap at the same price as a Dynamic with original bracelet, they aren't worth the same !

I can't really see the dial well enough to say much about it. Personally, I don't like the style of the metal hour markers but that's a personal thing.

If you are looking for the real classic Dynamic look, go for a bullseye dial (like this one - quite a few colour variations to choose from but blue/white combos are the most desired by "the market"), with the painted markers & a cal 565 / 552 movement.

Good hunting 👍

Agree with @SpikiSpikester -
Particularly about the strap. Be aware that these are specific straps for these watches, you can’t buy a replacement at any watch store. The bracelets are far easier to live with at they don’t need regular replacement like the straps, and they can be found on their own occasionally on eBay, but make sure they have the correct amount of links for your arm size as finding replacement links may take you a lifetime.

The Omega signed crystal is visible in one picture, so that's a plus. It's hard to tell from the pictures the exact condition of the dial. I personally prefer this style of silver dial below, but that's up to you. There are a ton of variations to choose from.

As for the band vs strap, I prefer the straps as there are many affordable ones in a range of colors available on Ebay, though they're not original Omega ones. You can occasionally find an adapter for sale that will allow you to use a conventional strap as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if the hands are original. The white on these always looks fresher than the rest of the face.

I love Dynamics and am not quite sure why they haven't taken off...they are very unique and have great presence - some more than others -

From the pricing I’ve been seeing over the last couple of years they’re starting to creep up (if only I’d bought the original condition Dynamic for $300 when I had the chance 🙁).

I think it’s their uniqueness which is the reason. It’s a bold design and can elicit quite polarised reactions. Some members of my family love my Dynamic, others find it a bit too “different”. But it’s a design classic that deserves respect.

Having said that, even within the dial variants I love some more than others - very happy with my plain blue dial, and have never gotten into the Bullseye dials. I adore @dougwhiz's white faced Dynamic with the Orange hand though - dibs if no one else has got there first!

Yes, it's all about condition. I found my blue bullseye a year ago for less than $500 but there are a couple shadowy marks on the silver ring. The others were a few hundred more but I was after ones in very good condition. Sadly I don't have the orange/silver variant above any longer.

Oh, I was forgetting to say something important to me: I bought this Dynamic. It is my first Omega, and hopefully not the last one...

Congrats! These are cool watches and they will be more appreciated in time- when everyone gets over the whole Mil/tool thing. I’ve seen the bracelets come up on their own- recently even on eBay, although fun and quirky on colored leather, they look so smart on stainless I think.

Congratulations! I'm glad it was a good sale. Even with the best pictures, you never know until it's in your hands.
By the way, I'm sure this won't be your only Omega. Every day I find about some new model on the forum that I never knew existed, but now I would like to own.

Hi
Would you be interested in joining a thread showing the diversity of Dynamic face colours and designs?
It has probably been done before but since I discovered two greys I have become fascinated in all the variations but according to Desmond (blog expert) there is no database
So let’s see how many we can get.

here are two to start with
