IMG_5716.JPG did a search and didn't find a first watch thread. Sorry if I missed this.

Nothing can be too embarrassing as I'm preety darn sure nothing tops mine. She's sadly in a landfill now... but that said, I have no desire to buy a replacement off eBay.

This was mine - Titanium quartz Seiko. I believe it was a birthday gift from my parents in high school. Loved that thing!

Westclox Pocket Dax, for me. Took it to pieces in class, grade one, using my jackknife. Teacher took it away from me. That was in 1946! You do the math. Next was a Westclox wrist watch. No idea of the fate of that one.

Mine was a 1972 Mickey Timex Electric. I picked this '72 up on the Bay with pristine strap and boxes, but put it on a much more comfortable strap. Just got it back from service and it's keeping good time at -3 spd.

That is awesome! Especially with that strap, where did you get it from?

I have three generations of first watches mine from a military surplus store, my dad's from 1977, and my grandpa's westclox pocket watch. Not sure where the westclox is

Sadly, not still in my possession, but boy do I remember being a hyperventilating 7 or 8 year old when I got this!

I had some sort of nike quartz watch from the 90s. It had a red or maroon fixed bezel. It is long gone and I cannot find anything on the internet that looks like it.

I still have mine from the late 60's, a gift from my favorite uncle (truly), unfortunately not running, but amusing to still have after all these years. He marched to the beat of his own drum; all the kids my age had Mickey Mouse watches, but not his nephew!

My first 2 watches were Timex. The first one from late seventies ? The second one (Rally) from beginning of eighties ? Hand wound mechanical watches with 0 stones ? in the movement :). The Rallys old plastic bracelet had hardened so much during the years that it broke into pieces when I found the watch in a drawer a couple weeks ago.

GV2 was my first watch over $100 and the PAM199 was my first luxury wrist watch!

    Looking forward to other additions,

    Thomas

Couldn't find a picture with Google, but remembered it was a birthday present from my parents and I was allowed to choose it from the Argos catalogue (I think that will only mean something to the Brits here). Anyway, low and behold, someone has scanned in all the Argos catalogues from the 80s. A couple of minutes searching and here it is :)

    No.8 "outstanding value" at 29.99 !

Mine was a Saturday morning....I was 7 or 8 and my mom pulled out a newspaper ad and asked what I thought of the watch. I think it was the car on the watch that pushed me over the edge. Lol.

My first watch was a USAF issued GG-W-113 in 1986 for pilot training...never wore any watch prior to that!

Oh wow, a flood of flashbacks... I so had one of these, and freaking loved it. I'd go grocery shopping with my mom and keep a tally of the cart for her -- un-requested, and unused information... but I was on it! ;)

    You hoser! ;)

On the USN side of the house, we were NOT issued a watch for pilot training in 1986 (see pic below).

Seriously, that's cool [extremely cool] that you were issued a watch...AND you still have it!
