Hi I hope someone can help.
Have just purchased this on ebay and wondered if it's real or fake?
This is the second one the seller has sold in the past 2 months.
Seen another one on ebay that looks near identical but with black face though the luminescence on the hands runs the length.

A refrence number would help but the hand and dial combination is not uncommon for these watches. I have seen quite a few omega watches from this period with this design. TV dial watches were popular from the 70s to the early 80s. Every major manufacturer had at least one design with a TV/square dial.
A bigger concern is if you over paid for it or not :) Enjoy your watch.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
Where would I find the reference number?
Would it be safe to open the case to see the internals so I can take a photo?

It would but if you've never done it, take it to a watchmaker and have them do it. The reference number is in the case back and movement number is, well, on the movement.

You can post the link. It's less of a pain in the arse for those who want to help you.

I see nothing wrong with the watch. No specific knowledge about the specific reference/model number, but it looks clean enough.

!!! Do note the following comment by the seller: !!!

"This watch is very old stock and has not been worn before and therefore is in excellent condition. ".

That implies that the watch is in a COSMETICALLY excellent condition.
As they do not state anywhere that the watch has received a recent service, you should not wear it under any circumstances before having it serviced by a skilled watchmaker.
The reason being that the lubricants of the mechanical movement is no longer any good (dried out for sure). Wearing it would be like taking a vintage car out of 40 years hibernation for a drive without checking and/or replacing the engine oil.

Find a good vintage watchmaker in your area and get it serviced before you do anything else to it.
At the same time the ask your watchmaker to take some photos of the movement and caseback.

Well, both strap and buckle are fakes, but that is a minor point.

I did suspect that, but as you said minor point.
The Omega logo should be raised, not embossed. Right?

The logo isn't wrong for a modern buckle, it's the back of the buckle that looks off. Had it been a genuine Omega buckle from the correct period, it would have looked quite different. It could well look like something in here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/new-old-stock.49552/page-3

    It has arrived!
Came from Locker Hull & Thornton Ltd, an approved Omega service centre. Have confirmed it was recently serviced prior to selling. Keeping great time.
Original photos don't do it justice, so here's more.

Can you give your reasons why you think this is a fake.

Sorry, it's me making a joke. I agree the watch is real. It's my expertise which is fake. It was a bad joke based on the title of your thread "your expertise, fake or real"
