... for stuff like yardwork, mucking around on the car or other dirty/grimey chores ... what do you wear? here's mine: 33mm of tough-as-nails Hamilton Mil-Issued watch ... I put it on so I do not have to worry about banging up my "good" watches ... and guess what ... it shows no signs of wear. what do you put on when the going gets tough? cheers, al
I have a really neat LeGran. Picked this up in a box-o-watches disguising himself as a Movado. You can imagine my disappointment when he said "hi" when I opened the box. Well made swiss beater
If its pissing rain and I'm going biking, or I'm going to get wet or filthy climbing rocks or hacking about on a beach..... its one of the "hundred dollar divers"... cheap and indestructible! Ya gotta love 'em! For just knocking about.... mowing the lawn, working under the hood of something greasy, hammering nails etc.... pocket watches! They don't live on your wrist, so they don't take the shocks, spattered paint, oil...... whatever is flying about the garage.... like that little spring that just came off that brake backplate and shot into the woodpile in the corner never to be seen again.... dammit.....
All my wrist watches have "bang around" capability...thanks to the fantabulous Rothco Commando protective band...which was introduced to me by a most honorable OF member. File pics...
I've always used Seiko divers as beaters. Probably always will too, although I'll admit to a brief flirtation with Luminox.
Several Getting seriously wet Fishing night,s Fishing days and wrestling croc,s And misses STANDY,s beater that I had for 3 minutes out of the post pack
For work around the House or under the hood....proven indestructable since 2003. plus the Company used to be based in my home town.
I have a couple of Seiko 5's and this presentation 166.140 with a cal. 750. I like the dial contrast... In my work I install and troubleshoot data network equipment so anything on my wrist is going to get knocked about a bit.
