Dials of both watches look refinished.

The exchange rate is about 5 zlotys to the £, so that would be about 3.3 to the $ - so roughly $900

I knew once the listing came out here it would go instantly - that "old watch" despite the issues with it is a first run 30mm manual wind movement - omega made a few million of these now legendary 30mm manual wind movements and this movement is one of the first batch of 600 made. Perhaps I should have gone for it but you know how it goes - too many targets at the same time...

I think it is a repaint but it probably didn't matter - this is a rare bird and the folks who collect this ardently will have the right original dial and nicer case for this watch to make it a perfect specimen.

Something that strikes me is that normally there are at least twice as many "guests" on the Forum as there are members. I reckon these are the anonymous vultures who are hovering around, waiting for one of us to find them a nice juicy target. So if you have found something you really fancy - don't post a link to it!

I'm pretty open about it to be honest, there are a lot of people that buy their first good watch based on recommendations or advice here which is great and then become members afterwards. I'd much rather they buy a good watch than buy one of the endless duds we see people purchase as their first piece.

Some of those guests don't play in the same league as the regulars here. The idea of spending over $1000 for an unshiny old watch repulses them. :D I'd bet many of them wouldn't even consider spending $5000 to $15000 and up for an old beater when you could have a brand new version for less (id: Speedmaster). I bet we're comedic gold to the ones who don't get this hobby.

Its funny when you think back to when you considered a $1k watch a significant purchase rather than something you'd just hit buy it now on if the deal was good. Then after a while 4-5k watches become much the same.

    Yes, but then -

This was not the work of a first-time buyer, my friends ;)

Oh, no doubt there are a couple of experienced antique & vintage buyers using this place for inside information. If you think about it, they might not even be watch collectors, just savvy shoppers who do their homework and more when looking to pick up a nice vintage anything.

Realistically, the things that are worth buying at a "good price" don't stick around long enough anyways.. Let alone to create a post about.. This was an exception, I guess.

Damn... I really liked that one. It was on sale for over a week and went sold after the post with the price in USD:(
