I know: not possible, right? But let's say for a moment that the thought crosses your mind...when did it happen? When did that little internal voice say,"Hmm, this may be getting a bit out of control"? There are numerous examples, I'm sure. But for me, it was when I was doing a Google search for one of my favorite references, saw a great example, started getting that "I missed another good one again" feeling, and then realized that I already owned it. And, lest you be tempted...we are not including documented dementia diagnoses.
Only after a few years of denial following a car accident did I realize I had way more watches than I could reasonably use. Might not have ever felt this way if not for a left elbow injury. Now there's 5 or 6 forum members with some excellent Longines, Omegas, and a few other brands.
For me it's when I think about how I have to replace the rechargeable batteries in my winder (every 3 days) without having worn any of the watches being wound. What can I say, I love the TV dial Megaquartz 32 I got in February. I love its 70s chunkiness, how it sits on my wrist, and the fact I don't obsess over its accuracy.
When all watches feels the same and can't be bother choosing them so leave home without a wristwatch.
I thought I was done when I filled my watch box. It must be enough, perhaps too many. How could anyone wear 10 different watches? Now, I know I just need two more boxes.
Honestly, for me I would say 3-5 watches is enough. Any more than that and either I spend too much time trying to decide which one to wear, or the unworn ones just stay unworn collecting dust.
...when you decide that, for a variety of more or less nonsensical reasons, some of your watches don't "count" towards the total number of watches you own. Anyone recognise that?
I like "Nothing exceeds like excess". Well, duh! "Parts watch". If you can wear it a few years before you actually have to cannibalize it for the parts, all the better.
You find one in a cupbord you forgot about buying ( remembered you had it reading a thread ) and you haven't counted it for two years...
- when you stop bothering setting the date on "slow date movement" watches ...thats why I gravitate more and more towards no date watches ... - when you have 5 chronos and have them just run for 1hr, 1 min 5 sec's to make sure all the totalisers work
Sure have. Until a couple years ago my wife only used the range top, and with both our schedules the oven door barely ever got opened since we didn't have time to cook things very involved. The crock pot got used for simplicity - drop in the ingredients and leave, then when you came home it was chow time. As mentioned in another thread, I ended up perfecting another multifaceted plan to avoid detection.
