Could people please give me their opinions on the following buckle?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-1...Accessories_SpareParts_SM&hash=item58a6236c6cPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

The logo looks sharp although ACIER and INOX do appear to pretty much run together. Can someone please remind me whether we decided this was acceptable on the right buckle?

90% faked buckles are in 16mm size, this one is 14mm , I think you are safe.

I think the buckle is OK, but the tang has been replaced.

It's a curious size, presumably for a strap which fits 16mm lugs? But if that's what you need, this one fits the bill . . .

Thanks to all of you. Yes, it's for a mid-size 50s Seamaster with a 17mm lug size (both 17 and 16mm straps typically taper to 14mm).

gatorcpa - would you consider a non-original tang to be a deal breaker?

Ok, I've taken delivery and the buckle is crisp. ACIERINOX is printed all as one world but the buckle is really sharp, and definitely vintage. The applied Omega symbol was cast separately and has very crisp lines.

Slightly excessive bend put in the middle of the tang as noted by hoipolloi, but we'll see how that works with the strap.

FYI, for anyone interested in 14mm buckles, as typically used for 17mm lug widths.

There was a lot of 5 that sold a few months ago when I was looking for the one above and made their way to Argentina. I'm guessing this is the winner now selling them individually:
