Hi all....just joined and looking around these brilliant forums. Will strive to participate wherever I can.....please be kind, I know a little bit about my own watches, four 'vintage' Omegas, two Oris' and a Hamilton, but everything else has been gleaned from research and wandering the fairs.
I have been trying to extend my model range and, if possible, avoid pieces that have not been tinkered with too much.
I have the opportunity to buy this 18K red star, late 40s I think, and have been told that this kind of dial patina is common on Brazil exports? Any advice welcomed, and my thanks to Mike for kindly pointing me to the correct forum.

Welcome. You are at the right place to learn about this watch.
Interesting watch. I am no expert but will tell you that it will be difficult to help with the single photo you posted. The experts will need clearer, higher resolution photos to help you.

Stick around. I am looking forward to hearing what the members are able to tell you.

You are right in that these models were available on the Brazilian market. The red star models are often refered to as Teddington. Try and search this forum for that. I am not an expert on these so can’t give you specific adwise on the watch in question. However, try and get better pictures of the dial straight on. Its hard to tell much from that picture even for experts.

A big welcome and your watch looks so nice (irrespective as to whether it's configuration is 100% correct or not). Enjoy!
