Naomi Uemura ltd edition. Haven't worn it in ages & had forgotten how comfortable these cushion cases are & how great the lume is in the middle of the night!

One of Seiko's best watches of any era.

Quartz / digital display be darned, they are so fun and useful, and the bezel provides an utterly intuitive way to quickly switch modes and settings.

Family photo!

Confession time. I got tired of waiting for Seiko to release a 62MAS reissue that was both reasonably sized (hint, the original was 38mm) and reasonably priced (perceptibly short of BB58 money would be a start). So I took matters into my own hands. The case is from Ali Express, but the movement, dial, hands, etc. are genuine Seiko OEM. I guess this is a bit of a "WatchCo 62MAS" at the individual level.

Looks like an awesome project! You should do a write up on the process!

If you don't mind sharing, how much did this end up costing? And, how's the case height vs an OG 62mas?

- Case and NH35 movement from a donor Seestern. I think I paid about $115. The watch is currently $190 but it should drop back down during the next Ali Express sale. There are cheaper homages that would do, but the Seestern case finishing is really good.
- Dial and hands are OEM replacements for the SPB143J1, about $90 and $85 respectively. (I have Seiko part numbers if anyone is interested.)
- Photo shows the watch on an Artem sailcloth, but I normally wear it on a tropic strap from rubstrap.com for $60. The FKM strap from Seestern is actually really good, but my tiny wrists are too small for regular sized straps. (Plus the very first 6217s were delivered on tropic straps; the waffle strap came with v2.)

So ~ $300 total plus any optional straps.

The NH35 is not a svelte movement, so thickness suffers. I measure 13.6mm including the (slightly boxed) sapphire crystal. I've read that the original 6217-8000 was 13mm thick, so comparable.

Yeah, the 62MAS are great looking watches but the reissues are certainly prohibitively expensive to me. Very nice looking watch.

Not sure why I like the 7002 so much. But I must as I keep buying them. Here’s the latest
