I showed this one before in this thread, but it's on a different band now and I hadn't shown off the catalogue page, so here goes:
King Seiko 45-8010 from April 1970 - this model (and the version with the date) were (among the?) the first Chronometers certified in Japan, by the newly founded Japan Chronometer Inspection Institute (JCII, established December 1968).
I was recently super lucky and found the correct bracelet for my Seiko LordMatic Special 5216-6050 - so now it has the same band again that it was sold with in 1974! It was a bit short, but my watchmaker gave it a gold-coloured extension plate and now it fits well.
It's still running super fast, so trying to demagnetize it again today.... if it doesn't work, I may take it to the watchmaker next year and pay more on a service than the watch is worth.... 😒
I came here to stop buying Seikos and now I just want more Seikos. THANKS GUYS
😀
…. but (unless you’re going in for the new expensive models) you can probably afford a week’s worth of Seikos for the price of an old (sorry, vintage) Omega …..
