I just spotted this 105.012-66CB on eBay for a price which looks like an error.. $45.5K USD! I mean, the condition is nice and all seems original, but would anybody seriously spend that much on one of these, or is the seller just wishful?

Agree. No way. Not even half that.

When it would have been a truly mint one, with box and papers, on a more desirable 1506 / 16; perhaps half would be justifiable.

People can ask whatever they want, there are guys that list most of their collection for sale at inflated prices just on the off chance someone is willing to go for one of them.

I’m not sure of the motivation behind such a crazy asking price, but the watch is very nice and I’m sure the seller could sell it for a healthy amount if it was priced correctly. Maybe they got the currency confused 🤓

He's also offering this 2998-1 for $150k, would that tell us whether there's a currency confusion?

With an absurd price like that, you'd expect to see something special or pristine with original papers, etc. Not an average watch with damaged bezel.

Might be an attempt at marketing mind games. Tell them it’s $45k so they feel they’re getting a bargain for $35k. But I doubt anybody in the market to buy an obscure vintage watch is going to be that daft. Either way, he’s making ours look like a bargain 🤷🏼‍♂️

have seen this before, and thought it is grossly overpriced. i just dismissed it for being unrealistic. for us here being so circumspect particularly on watch prices, we should be mindful of the rule "caveat emptor".
