Hello all. I've been collecting and flipping watches for about six months, mostly sticking with Hamilton, but I happened across these two yesterday. I'll I really know about Omegas is that there are nearly as many fakes out there as real examples, at least on craigslist. My gut told me to walk away, but i did snap a few photos before I left. I didn't open the cases, wish i had because now after looking around online the stainless looks to be from the early 1940's and might be worth a few bucks. The gold plated day date looks to match the examples I've seen from 1974-75. What does the collective Omega brain-trust think, worth another look?
^^^Exactly. The idea is to buy one clean and service It- enjoy it for a while as I sell it to buy the next one. In practice I now own a lot of watches I don't want to sell.
got 'em! the guy laughed at what was a fair offer a month ago. told me he knew he could get more, them he called me out of the blue Friday and asked if i still wanted them. They were nasty but looking better now. The stainless watch has a case number of 2338 and the gold one is a 166.0209 with a 1020 movement. Now the parts hunt begins.
