A couple of Rolex 16750 have popped up on Watches of Knightsbridge auction. I just wondered what people thought of them? I haven’t posted photos just the links as I think they got annoyed previously with people using their photos. Anyway here are the links https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/...0031/lot-951c7042-6976-43b9-a92c-a97000f3fea1
Anyone able to cast their eye over these two? I know the pictures aren’t great. I’m rubbish at being able to tell if it’s over polished
The first 16750 ( Pepsi ) looks like it's over polished to me ,on three of the lugs particularly on the 7 o'clock lug .But it could be just the camera angle , & the 2nd one ( black) looks polished also but again it could just be the poor pictures & camera angles . Also not really a fan of the spider dial effect , for me both are a big NO .
Hi - not a lot of pics to provide appropriate opinion, no pics of the lugs, movement, case back, serial/ref. #'s. I would want to see those prior to putting in a bid. with all that said, here goes nothing: The first one, being the Pepsi, is quite unattractive as it has the "spider dial". It also has an incorrect jubilee bracelet which is for cheaper Datejusts and not GMTs. I would not be a buyer unless it falls in the $6-7K (USD) range. Nice beater GMT. The second, looks nicer and is a very early 16750 at 6.2M serial. The dial is period correct but has drag marks and some spotting (not sure if it's the pics). The crown guards look way too rounded to my liking and the bracelet is not correct for the watch. I wouldn't say this is an exceptional piece, I would be a cautious buyer at the right price. I can see why they get upset when you post pics....no bueno, my friend.
Many thanks chaps, I quite like the spider dial. I don’t mind too much if it’s been polished a bit but I don’t want some pile of rubbish though either. It’s not going to be a safe queen and I’ll probably never sell it if I did buy it. I’ll see if anyone bids on it.
Mine says hi. If you want to find a nice one then don’t be in a hurry. Study pictures of unpolished cases. Having said that it’s VERY hard to find unpolished watches from this period and if you do the price would be substantially higher.
mine says hi too! this was from when I bought it. Springer on TRF sourced a NOS 78360 with the correct date stamp.
Judging by his recent instagram posts even Springer has run out of the good ones! He was hoarding lots of unpolished and all correct ones a few years ago and he slowly sold them on TRF.
he had a really nice Z-serial 16710 for, what is now, a pretty decent price. i was tempted. to the OP, i would never buy any GMT without consulting Springer. He's a great guy.
You guys are making me jealous. I’ll be honest I’m not looking for a perfect example just a reasonable one. I’m going to take a look at the black bezel one and see how I feel about it. Thank you all for your time and help. I’ll be comparing your photos to the one at the auction house.
