If they're gonna polish the shit out of it, they should polish out the pitting on the sides of the case.

There's a version of that, with a different dial color and much nicer case, floating around here that was purchased for half that amount.

I love the Wittnauer chronos. Great bargain for what you get. The price isn't bad...if this was a nice clean example. Keep looking.

I happen to be wearing one right now in all it's cruddy, original glory. A good friend of mine is a jeweler on 47th St. in NYC and he knows I'm always on the lookout for good stuff. The story (isn't there always one?) is that the watch belonged to a customer of his who bought the watch brand new in 1957/58 and it was never polished. I have no reason not believe the story.

I believe you about the polish, look how sharp the edges are. Mine are like that as well, and could actually be sharp enough to cut something with.
