Winding My Vintage 1965 Seamaster

Hi! Just got my first vintage Omega - a 1965 Seamaster Automatic 562 calibre (24 jewels) and the instructions said to wind it 10-15 times every morning. The crown only has two positions: Pushed in and out. And when I pull it out I can change the time. So do I wind it (clockwise) in the pushed in position? Sorry for such a newbie question! Thanks!

Welcome @rsuvalle

Correct, turning the crown clockwise in the pushed-in position will wind the movement. It's an automatic, however, so if you wear it daily there's usually no need to wind it 10-15 times every morning as it'll constantly wind itself with every movement of your wrist.

In case the seller didn't tell you: There's a semi-quickset function to the date display. When setting the time, the date will jump over once you pass midnight. Wind it back to 9pm, then over midnight again - the date will jump forward another time. Makes setting the date a little easier than going through the whole 24h-cycle.

If you don't mind me asking, are you also looking for feedback regarding your purchase or is it just the question regarding it's daily use?

Thanks for the quick response and the 9pm tip!

Not really looking for feedback. I know a lot of people don’t like when you restore these watches, but I personally prefer the new/refreshed look. And I also love these vintage smaller faces because I have small wrists. Also going vintage was a way for me to get an Omega without blowing $10K+ So I’m very very happy with the purchase. But again I really appreciate people who like these untouched like a vintage car. Thanks again for the winding tip.

Lovely - nobody likes to be the bearer of bad news and it happens all too often. Happy to hear it was a conscious decision for you and it’s exactly what you want. All that’s left to say is: Wear it in good health! 😀
