I just got a Constellation which has a 561 movement. The watch seems to run and keep time well, but I just shook it to wind it. The crown does not turn in the first position. Is that the way it should be?

Firstly congratulations on you new watch
The Constellation crowns are notoriously difficult to grasp
    - and yours had lost some of its substance through wear making it even more difficult to use
    But it should still wind
Have you had the watch serviced ?
It looks like it could probably do with it from the pics and will save you grief later

Any word on Yervant here? He seems competent.

I was able to wind the watch off my wrist by firmly grasping the crown with my fingernails.

I would recommend not winding or wearing it until you get it serviced...
