will Omega ever make an attainable worldtimer?

They've already shown it's in their wheelhouse, but will we ever see a "civilian" version of the worldtimer? It was my most hoped-for piece at Basel this year, so naturally I left disappointed.

Hell, at this point, I'll take a an AT GMT with the new case and an 8900-series movement... I keep hoping for a mid-year surprise release a'la Speedy Tuesday, but maybe Basel 2019...?

That is a beautiful piece. It would be awesome to see something more attainably priced. If I had $50K to drop on a watch, I'm not sure it would be my first choice, but it is a really nice watch.

This very limited edition beauty was released about a year ago, platinum case with a retail of about $48,000. I've recently seen it displayed for sale at the Omega botiques in both Dubai and Vancouver. I too was surprised they did not follow it up with something more attainable at Baselworld last March, given the investment Omega made to create the movement. Perhaps that was just too soon, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a mainstream release in the near future, unless this introductory model ends up being a total sales flop.

I mean, let's be honest – if I had 50k, I'd get the Vacheron Worldtimer, but I'd be too afraid to go anywhere with it!

Seems like it's a little unfair to use a $50k, ultra-limited piece (I think Omega only produced 87?) as a litmus test for general release. I'm trying to figure out what Omega's cadence for introducing mainstream product following the high-end concept pieces – two years maybe?

It's kinda ugly. I thought the same of the Globemaster and now it's really grown on me.
I'd like a budget version but on a metal strap.

20180105_165321.jpg I like the AT gmt sort of. Which variant I'm not sure. A bit big and not great lume. Good enough movement. Quick set hour hand. The dial design makes me wonder. I do like my early 8500 3 hander though.

    have fun

I had the GoodPlanet GMT for a hot minute, just couldn't get it to sit right on my wrist. The newer case has more downward curving lugs, seems like it could potentially fit better. Still miss this one though – amazing travel watch, and as close to a "one-watch" collection as I've ever been. Would be next-level with a worldtime disc though...

I'm holding out hope that it'll be a mid-year release, as they've been known to do in the past. With all the huge anniversaries next year around the space program, it would be daft to try to squeeze it in, but what do I know?

They sure did, so maybe we'll get an announcement sooner?

Yeah, but a Swatch-only event (a'la SIHH) would actually be pretty interesting, and would prevent really interesting pieces like this Worldtimer from totally slipping through the cracks. It was launched the same news cycle as the Railmaster and the 60th Anniversary Trilogy, and it got totally missed – nobody covered it. A dedicated Swatch launch event would put a larger spotlight on all the new releases, and not just the focal ones.

Agreed. Regardless how much sense it makes for the company, there's something always sad about the loss of a tradition...if most enjoyed it.

Don’t think they will make bracelet version as the case itself is really heavy already. This is NO. 31 out of 87.

A stainless world timer at a price point below $10K would certainly find a public... Put it at $7K and it could become a real hit.

Let's not forget that platinum is something like 2x heavier than stainless steel though. I think they could offset the weight by making it in titanium like the GoodPlanet – and as aforementioned, totally agree that there's immense potential under $10k.
