I've just found some more Plaisted gossip.

I first got interested in the Plaisted Polar Expeditions (1967, 1968 to the North Pole by snowmobile) back in 2009/2010 and made 'anniversary' posts on TZ-UK and WUS (later condensed here).

Sounds like the rights have (for some inexplicable reason) been sold of the NY Times article and the title has been taken to heart. Expecting whiskey to be more visible than Speedmasters

Further "watch related" searching seems to have revealed that the 'much scoffed' (on many watch forums) $100,000 Bombadier/Plaisted Speedmaster finally sold at Sotheby's Geneva in Nov 2015 for CHF37,500
