Given two speedies in the same condition, is a 105.002 going to go for a higher price than a 2998-61 ?
I don't believe this is a correct 2998-1 dial. Dial should be domed, this one is stepped. This dial, I think is the 2998-4 style. Bezel is wrong. Hands relumed. Looks to be white printing smudge on dial also. If I made a mistake here please correct me. Movement number is not shown. I was taught to be wary of what is not shown.
I think the smudges are a mark on the crystal because it changes position in other pictures 2998-1 has triangle lume on the hour hand. and 'base 1000' on the bezel.
I don't think this is a hard rule. I believe the thin lume strip dauphine are also correct for 2998-1
This is something that I found on the net. Not mine. Thank you Mads, I hope I don't offend but have found your work very helpful.
Wrong bezel. Wrong dial. The "OMEGA" font is wrong. The dial is from a 2998-3 or later. Less than original looking hands, at a minimum they have been relumed. I'd love to know what the movement s/n is.
I'm sorry but with a throw away line like that, using a plural, means I have to ask for PICTURES! Please?
Spacefruit, Two are now at the watchmakers, one's been out for a couple months and the other just went in after taking on water in its old crown and pushers. I do have a transitional that busted a pusher....but I'd rather not post photo's of the wounded. If I buy something else while the stuff's getting fixed you will know it, Prices Always Drop After That.
I feel bad for whoever is bidding on this. But my question is: who falls for these? I mean, who knows what a 2998 is worth, yet doesn't know what he's looking at in terms of whether the parts are correct and all there?
