Why put a date window?

The damn 4:30 position is an absolute deal breaker for me. I hate it on every watch I’ve seen.

A date indicator located at 3:00 is traditional and okay, but the 6:00 position is much better balanced and doesn’t ruin the symmetry.
Omega needs to make this watch publicly available 👍

I know they make this one, but I’m not a fan of the case/bezel combination. And the newer all blacked out version isn’t for me.

I was tempted to impulse another ladies Tissot seastar. Then I noticed the date window. Saved some pennies.

30 years ago I did collect automatic and date watches, as It seemed these complications would make the watches more desirable. Now I find the date rings and lifting pin are often worn and can jam the watch. The automatic rotors often have wear.

Curiously I am finding simple sweep three handers to be the most attractive. Especially when collecting rat watches at the lowest price possible.

Still I am a sucker for triple calendar moon phase watches. And of course Landeron parts. Even the vaporware valjoux part.

Now if only I could find a broken 2521.81 for $19.99USD -- that is the ultimate date window.

I actually kind of like the 4:30 date window. It maintains some symmetry at the 3 and 6 o'clock positions and still keeps a date. It does look wonky on some watches but I like it when well executed. I don't find these Seikos too bad. Maybe I got used to it from seeing lots of Zeniths that I like. Obviously not trying to change your mind. Just my take.

It doesn’t bother me much, mind you as I wear glasses for everything……..spend my day shuffling between 4 pair of the bloody things!
I almost never have the right ones on, whenever I need to check the time, I can almost never read the damned date window anyway…..hard enough to even see the bastard, let alone read it, so I never bother setting them.
And before anyone suggests multi focals, they don’t work for me……. Unlike office jonnies, I actually do stuff, I don’t sit at a desk shuffling pointless bits of paper or peck at a keyboard like a demented chook for a living…….

I never thought I wanted or needed a date window but after getting a watch that had one, I was surprised at how handy it is to have those one or two digits there on my wrist. I agree with the general assessment about these Seikos, though. Better to have no date window at all than have it kludged in somewhere dumb.
