and just noticing this from the author, in the comments section after a reader questioned his sail of the FOiS (my emphasis):

But for me, this represents a turning point for the Speedmaster, and in the decades to come will be revered as a significant step change in the long line of Speedmasters. I have my eye on the most special Speedmasters for this year as well but wanted to cement my interest in the 3861 as early as possible. You’re right about the FOIS, but I had a good amount of time with it and enjoyed but was ready to move on. Saying that, I may revert and seek another one in the future so never say never. I actually did the exact same thing. Swapped the FOIS for the 3861 hesalite.

FOIS was great and my first speedy but after 3 months I don’t miss it at all. IMHO the case + bracelet of the 3861 give it such a great fit on the wrist that for some reason I wasn’t able to achieve with the FOIS.
