The new Speedmaster Moonwatch Master Chronometer was not even on my short-term wish list, as I already have a few Moonwatch references, but I simply could not resist. This time, I was initially (and finally) aiming for the Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon, but the Moonwatch force was strong. I ended up buying […]

I think the oversized logo is slowly growing on me. Now I just have to get over the missing paint on the subdial hands.

Wonderful piece!

I enjoyed the article. I don't have a Moonwatch and I probably think I will go with the SS just because the movement is so beautiful, but I really enjoyed the article.

Dear Omega - please give this Hesalite version the AML, long hour indices and 105.012 look-alike crown, and then take my money.

Dear Omega: Please lose the silly text on the back and then give me a call.

Great read, even more glad I picked up the 3861 Hesalite myself. Thanks…

Saw both at AD yesterday, if I were to pick one it would also be the Hesalite. True to the original, and I'm not sure the jump in price is justifiable just to have the sapphire. Seeing the movement on the case back is cool, but how often would you even look to enjoy it?

For me, one thing the sapphire has going for it is the polished parts on the bracelet, which I prefer over the all-brushed bracelet.

Sounds like you want the sapphire.

..

At least, twice a day. Before putting the watch on and as soon as you take it off. .. 😉

The previous bracelet was a thorn in the flesh of many Speedmaster enthusiasts, myself included. Undeniably comfortable, its design was just not a proper fit with the Moonwatch.
.

I was surprised to read "undeniably comfortable". If you can't get a $5000 watch to fit right, it's not comfortable ....and not right.

I have the prior version and I would deny that it is comfortable. So much so, I likely would have preferred a Seamaster.

Because the bracelet is more comfortable?

For your Speedmaster, there's the OEM 1171 or the new one readily available. And probably more options too.
For less money, there are at least two other options such as Uncle Seiko and Forstners who both offer various bracelets.

Yes, I was on the fence in the store between the two, and would have bought a Seamaster had I known I'd find the Speedmaster bracelet too big or too small.

I always wondered why, if there are aftermarket bracelets, someone does't sell an aftermarket half link. Intellectual porperty rights maybe? If there were an aftermarket half link, I'd go that route. The adjustable clasp & end links is about CAD 600 which is a lot of a part of a bracelet.

It's always the topic which one to choose hesalite or sapphire. But can anyone explain me why the sapphire looks so much better on some watches (like gold Apollo 11 50th Anniversary)? Is it about a shape of crystal which makes it nicer?
