In the recent past an Ed White at this price point would have been relatively quickly purchased. Yet this one still lingers despite being an overall honest watch. Granted the caseback is missing the hippocampus but still... https://m.ebay.com/itm/Omega-Speedm...022949?hash=item23a8edf725:g:9bsAAOSwjMdbUd90Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Well first of all I'm sure you know as well but it has a flat sweep hand on it...gonna be a pain to source an original lume-matching (or relume) 321 chrono hand. Some lume missing on hour hand too. Lume color of course is quite a matter of preference but this one doesn't do it for me. And as you mentioned too, no hippo on it...all this for 10k listing (near 11k) is not that good I think. That's just my very amateur train of thought.
Same with anthing really. A good one makes good money, a poor one doesn’t. There is a 2998 for sale on here at present for less than £6k. Does that mean 2998 prices have collapsed like the ray of sunshine above suggests? Probably not, just that those who can afford one buy a good one.
Just not a great example. The case is polished, caseback worn, bezel average-poor, wring sweep hand, unattractive dial lume. It's slightly overpriced and it's low season in the watch world.
