Along with the Submariner, it’s arguably one of the most iconic watches ever made, but if you had to pick one reason, why do you love yours? For me, it has the perfect dial - balanced, functional and incredibly legible.

I think it has an aura of something that it is appreciated only when you own and wear on your wrist for more than a week; you realise why you love it.

It was my first mechanical (i.e. non-quartz) watch and also the watch I wore at my wedding. No getting rid of it now.

I love the Speedmaster. But I can't really decide which one is my favorite.

Here is my Speedmaster Decades Collection. A speedy from each decade I have lived.

Outside the history and iconic nature of it, it’s actually one of the most comfortable watches I’ve worn!

I’ve had mine for only a few weeks (2nd day of Lockdown in the uk). So, whilst I’m still in the honeymoon period, I feel qualified to comment. I’ve always loved chronographs, my last was a Tudor Big Block which was just too top heavy. The Speedmaster feels just right. It’s not a sub-brand and has no pretence of being anything other than a timekeeper and a stopwatch, and The legibility is brilliant. Mine is from 1997 and the last of the tritium models and with the creamy patina it has the perfect mix of modern and vintage. It’s sits perfectly with my 3 hand Seamaster 300mc and my daily Panerai 233.

Not fair.
You ask for one reason then offer your own hand full of reasons😉

Anyway, I totally agree with your assessment👍
But if there was one singular way to express the reason why i like the watch so much, I would say that the watch as a design exercise and a package as a whole has a certain kind of honesty/authenticity about it.
There's nothing pretentious about the standard old Hesalite Speedy Pro😀

Just one reason?

Well than it is the whole package: perfectly sized, perfectly comfortable, perfectly legible. And that for a price I have to describe as cheap when you think about what you get: the most iconic mechanical chronograph.

In 1995 as a 7 year old watch and space lover, I watched the movie Apollo 13.
It was the scene where they are getting suited up, and there is a shot of the Speedy on Fred Haise's wrist.
And that was it. At that moment I knew that was the coolest watch on (and off lol) the planet, and I would have to have one one day.
Fast forward 23 years and I still thought it was pretty cool, but I also came to appreciate its looks, functionality and of course, history.
So I suppose if I had to pick ONE reason why I love the Speedy, I guess I'll have to go back to that first reason.
It went to space and that is f****** cool.
